On an '87 GM, can you "temporarily" install the Ignition Coil with just the connector and spark plug wire and place the coil out of harm's way or does it HAVE to ground through the case and bracket. I am thinking of an emergency situation, late at night, with little light until I can get the car home. Present coil is good but just a question for a possible future issue!

should be fine, but you may get extra static in the radio. Run a ground wire from the bracket to something metal in the event it gives you any grief.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Wouldn't leave it unmounted for long - just for a short period as I said in case of an emergency. Thanks for the input!!
