    Well, not *need*, but it'll work with the stock large-case alternator bracket.




    OP: I remembered this morning, that if you haven't already purchased a fan, you might look into getting something from another brand. Several Mustang guys at SBFtech reported good results using a dual fan from I think an '02 Sentra 2.5L. Seems someone on here had good luck with the dual fan from a Windstar, too.

      you know, I wonder if a small stereo capacitor would be a good idea for a fan. It would soften the "kick" from a voltage spike of a fan turning on high...

        I was wondering about that also....

        I saw a '99 T-bird 3.8 fan @ the yard today, I wonder if that would be better?

          I saw something that led me to conclude that all the '90s 3.8L single fans were the same or basically the same. I say, find a good deal on a 3.8L fan, preferably $25ish or less, and give it a whirl!
