I did my heater core and, of course, tore out much of the dash.
I've got a 1990 grand marquis with manual climate control.
Got the rest of the car running last week, at long last, and have the first opportunity to use everything.
It may well be important to note that I found that I had no brake boost, and subsequently, that I'd left the relevant vacuum line for the climate controls wholly unhooked.
I'm only going to get to fix that tomorrow night, so, haven't found out.
The problems were twofold. One was that the selection slider is physically stuck on max a/c. This probably isn't a vacuum question-- is it definite that I've jammed something and should pull the control unit back out of the dash and check it out?
The other problem is that while I can control the fan speed, and hear the fan, I'd be hard pressed to hear any air at all coming out of the vents. It might be coming out the bottom of the dash, as per floor heat for example.
Maybe that is vacuum powered, and as soon as I've rehooked that vacuum line, I'll find that the air blows out the vents again? Is it quite likely that in messing with the dash for the heater core that I moved the position of the splitter or whatever controls air flow, and that without vacuum, it can't move back to where it belongs?
