I am trying to figure out why my 83 Merc. GM with a 302 will not start. I know it is an electrical problem. Today I pulled the coil to distributor wire. I noticed a bit of white powder on the inside of the coil. Do I need a new coil ?? Thanks

a voltmeter will tell you everything you need to know about the health of coil. you can also test it to see if it's receiving 12volts with the ignition on.Give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day.
