    drilling holes in door panel...

I hated to do it, but I followed the factory service manual and my visual inspection on drilling out three 1/2" holes for accessing the window motor bolts on my front passenger door. I have to do the other side too (driver's side front). Probably not, but does anyone here have any other option to getting the lower most window motor bolt out? You'd have to have Chinese finger hands to get to it w/a ratchet, it it would even fit!! Also, on plugs, do you just go get a 1/2" car plug from an auto parts store and paint it whatever interior color you have?

    Thanks for the advice!

btw, the only thing wrong w/the passenger door window motor was the complete obliteration of the three little roller gears inside the housing. I'm going to try Dorman part 74410. Do they sell the grease separately as well? I guess its a special kind?

Drilling the holes is the only easy way... and you wont notice what color the plugs are once the door panel is on, only a little of the lower one peeks out.
I just put regular wheel bearing grease in mine, but that may be why mine went bad again in a few years lol

yeah, i think some of the experts here on the forum said don't use WB grease. I saw the grease in a pack with the full rebuild kit but not the little one that just has the three little roller gears. Maybe Advance will let me 'borrow' some from an open pack, or perhaps, see what kind of grease is in these.

woah. You scared me with the title. I would have kicked your ass if you actually drilled the "door panels." The piece you are concerned with is most commonly referred to as the door shell.

I think they may have had lithium grease in there originally but I also just use wheel bearing grease.

And kicked it you should have if I had've done that!! No, i drilled the door shell itself. Interestingly, on the right most 'dimple' that the FSM says to drill, it doesn't line up well with the motor bolt.

I ended up using a 1/4" ratchet. It fit fine and it wasn't strained getting the bolts out. Though somebody already replaced the motor before I got the CV; as the 3-holes had been drilled out already. I was going to get dew wipes from a MGM at the JY, but they crushed the candidate B4 I could bring the necessary power tools for the window motor removal.
