One last vacuum question: should I have a line going to this check valve?

I asked this question before but didn't get a quite clear enough direction, now have better access and a much better photo with the intake off (put in new injectors).

This is a one-way check valve, although which way I'm not sure
I've just capped it off at present.
SHOULD it have a line feeding it?

If so, where did that line come from?

I did remove the airpump. This took a thin black and a thin white vacuum line both totally out of the equation. There's a 3 or 4-way red vacuum line that I've left in place, because while 2 of the legs went to the now-extraneous airpump/thermactor system, the other legs go to the intake and to the fuel pressure regulator if I've got that right.

But nowhere on the air pump was there a fat 3/8" vacuum line that could have gone to that check valve, not that I can find looking at it again anyway,
so I strongly feel I've missed something?

You haven't missed anything. You don't even need the cap on it.

        alright, cool.
What precisely does it do again? You guys tried to explain it to me, I didn't quite get it.
It's on the front of a vacuum tree that has a big 3/8" feed, then a host of smaller lines, going into the dash through the firewall, to the cruise control, to the vacuum canister by the relay box.

What is the check valve's purpose? When does it open?
