My '87 was one of the easiest fuel pump replacements I've ever done. I bought a new lock ring and seal in a Help kit off of Amazon and a 110LPH pump from Mustangs Unlimited for under $90 shipped.

    This was the stock pump.

Here is the new pump installed.

I cut the bottom off of the rubber isolater so the new strainer would fit on and then I cut out a rectangular piece on each side so the hose clamp would suck it in. I did loose maybe 1/4" of length on the assembly (reused the old "L" shaped hose) but it has been working fine.

easiest fuel pump replacement ever: mechanical fuel pump. 2 hose clamps, two bolts... swap... done. :p

that new pump is HUGE compared to the old one.
