    Radio back light bulb?

Anyone know what type of bulb Ford uses for the backlight on the AM / FM radio light? I want to change it out to LED so it matches the rest of the dash... Finnally got the rest of the LED's installed... looks nice! Only problem is, now the radio looks different, and I want to make it match the rest. Thanks for any help! Tom...

To try to narrow it down it could be: #1893 which is the twist in type with a metal base.
#73 #161 #194 which are the all glass plug in style.

http://ecatalog.federalmogul.com/ You can look up lighting applications at that site.

Found a place online that repairs these radios... here is the reply I found online to someone elses question...

I use a special set of pliers with rubber inserts that grip knobs securely without marring the knobs. I should have informed you that on many of these stereos of the year that you have, removing the top cover will expose the light shroud at which the lamp socket will twist out of it. A small 12 volt wedge type lamp(#74)works great.
So the type of bulb is #74... I THINK I already have some, as I think that is the bulb I ordered by accident for the volt / oil pressure gauges... (Smaller push in base than the normal lights) I will remove the radio tommorow, and see what happens... Then I will get some pictures tommorow night of the entire gauge set up... IF I have the right LED bulb already...

Got the new bulb in today.... but it is still green... alot brighter, but doesn't match the other dash lights... Guess i'll have to remove the "green" material inside the face plate... And try to find some light blue material somewhere to replace it with... Anyone ever taken one of the faceplates apart before? I may get one from the junk yard to "experiment" on....

I've taken apart a lot of stuff... but never one of the box/aero model radios. I have a couple I could take apart if you really need pics of stuff before you dive in since I don't actually use mine.

I should dig the old one out of my parents' garage and see what I can do with it.

What color did you make the dash lights? The stock coloring is created with a regular bulb passed through a blue filter. blue + yellow = Ford dash lights. Gotta pull the little filter thing out if you're using something other than blue or white lights.

I'm using the LED's... which makes the dash look more blue... and brighter! The problem is, the radio evidently has a green plastic "window" which makes the light green... So I need to remove it, and just wondered if that was possible... I think maybe just removing it may let the light match the rest of the dash... at least hopefully!

Here is what the dash lights look like now:
