    98 Grand Marquis LCM

I'm working on my grandma's 98 GM and she's been having headlight/interior light problems. I already got out the LCM and I've been looking at it. I've seen lots of LCM posts in the crownvic forums and around but none of the pics I seen are the same as my LCM. It has four P&B relays that I can not find any kind of info for online. The one's I've been seeing have NEC relays in. The pin outs aren't even on the relays either. It's a basic 5 pin relay and I want to replace it with a 4 pin relay but I have no idea what the pin outs are.
Can anyone be so kind as to tell me what they are or point me in the right direction? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Below is a link to more pics.
    Thanks

should be exactly the same pinout, just a different supplier. Manufacturers will do that to make sure supply meets demand.

The pin layouts are in a different location on the crownvic forum LCM relays than the ones on my Grand Marquis LCM relays. So the LCM board pin position is different. They're all 85,86,87,87a, and 30 but I don't know what holes on the LCM board or pins on the relay are what. They're not labeled on the relay... WTF!?!?!

Here's the link to the pics on the crownvic forum LCM:

That clicking you hear is the circuit breaker located in your fuse box. Replace it with a new one and problem solved. The old ones get corroded or they just get weak as they age.

so it is a different design... bah.

        found this PDF: Clicky

The VKP relay diagram is on page 160... or just look at this pic:

1-2 is the coil... 4 is common (input) and 5 is normally open output.

Relays are easy. Don't even need the diagrams; if you're like me you'll just get confused if you think about it too hard.

Here's how I do it more often than not: Stick 12V across it at random till you find the two terminals that make it click, then you'll know those are for sure the trigger (coil) side. Doesn't normally matter which direction, either. Then you just hook the switched power source across the other two terminals and you're set. If it's a single-pole-double-throw (5 terminals), a quick experiment similarly verifies which of the remaining terminals are which.

I greatly appreciate the leg work. I think I got it and if I'm looking at this diagram correctly, the relays in my LCM only have 5 pins, in the diagram above the #5,1,2, and the bottom two #4's are what pins my relay has. Because I'm trying to match it up to a typical 4-pin relay (30,85,86, and 87), the Number #4 pin, would be a number 30, the #5 pin would be number 87, and the #1 and 2 pins would be 85 and 86. But which one is 85 and which one is 86?
