There are interesting tricks that can be done with the wiring. Using the stock wiring for aftermarket gauges is a clean way to do it. I'm increasingly fond of messing about with the stock wiring to add stuff in a way that looks factory.

and yeah, use steel pipe, not brass. I lost 2 brass nipples, both of them cracked right at the block and dumped massive amounts of oil out of the side of the engine. One cracked and I lost 2 quarts in less than 10 miles.

1990LTD - did you get this installed? If so, how'd it go?

I have a similar gauge & sender and am looking to do an install. The only problem is that I dont want to use a brass extension/mount for the reasons listed above. The sender is just too damn heavy to put on the end of a 4" brass mount. Nor do I want to pay $15 to get a SBF OEM mount.
Does anyon know if I can use galvanized steel nipple pipe as my extender/mount?

I think you also need a special socket to pull that pressure sender thats in your car now off. If it's original. A conventional socket won't fit, as some sides are smaller than others.

channel locks work for removal... so do large vice grips.

12 point 1 1/8" I think does the job too, or yeah, big pliers. I forget what I used on the Towncar but I know it was not any sort of special tool.

                If you can fit it...

I borrowed a socket from the repair shop up the street from me...

I owe 4door the cost of a new car by now with all of the stuff he has given me. Said he's gonna send me an electric sender and an adapter I believe.

Pretty stoked to get my psi gauge working. What is normal hot (operating temp) idle pressure?

Depends on the engine. If it's old and tired out 8psi. Anything higher than that is awesome. My Oil pressure at hot idle is 55psi. Cold idle is closer to 70psi

generally accepted minimum is 10 psi per 1000 rpm.

I have the special socket...worked well...pointless really because how often do you need to go about removing them.
