    oxygen sensors

Any reason not to buy motorcraft when I replace these? The mk vii sensors are like 12 bucks cheaper than the panther sensors. What gives? I'm gonna go with them unless you guys tell me otherwise

Anyone know what size the socket needed is? For the old ones I can just cut the wires to fit the socket over it but I will need to figure something out for the installation.

I use Bosch sensors because they're usually cheaper. Motorcraft sensors are made by Bosch.

Only difference with the Mark sensors is longer wires. If they're cheaper, go for it.

There are special sockets and wrenches made special for doing O2 sensors. Might want to rent one. They have slots or whatever to allow the wires through.

I bought an oxygen sensor tool at autozone. It was 10-15 dollars. The way it's tagged you could even return it if your careful and nock out the tag from the inside with a 1/4 inch drive extension and pop it back in when your done.

they're like a dollar cheaper...if i get motorcraft, it combines shipping for some other stuff i gotta get too (cap rotor plugs etc)

what plugs do you guys use? i've used basic motorcraft ones the last two tune ups and haven't had a problem but if something is better..

You need an oxygen sensor wrench. When you get your new sensors ask for a wrench. And see if it fits. And I never could get anything else on the sensor when it was in the car.
If you got the O2 sensors in the down pipes you can use an open ended wrench.

The Mark VII sensors are the same. The wiring is longer because they have the O2 sensors in a different place.

              Bosch is Ford...

A little bit of research provided this:
13942: 10.8 inches from threads to end of connector
13953: 19.1 inches from threads to end of connector
13950: 15.4 inches from threads to end of connector

At Autozone, the first two are the same price, which gives you an indication that they're the same thing with different wires.
All 3 appear to have the same connector. Motorcraft O2 sensors appear to be the 10.8 inch ones.

If I were you, I'd get the long wire ones just because it makes things a lot easier if your exhaust is not bone stock.

And Motorcraft spark plugs will do you just fine.

I purchased the 13593 for my car. They were the perfect length with a mustang h pipe. Just had to zip tie a little out of the way on the drivers side.
