    A lighting alternative.

Requires an adapter, as it switches to a 9007 bulb. I'm ordering a pair for evaluation....price is around $35 a piece, my cost.

Does an adapter exist? I see talk of it but i figured I would ask since it seems you know more about it. And does this bulb twist and lock into place with a seal around it?

the 9007 has a lock collar behind it to hold it in place. If you've ever changed a 9004 which is the bulb used in a ton of cars, its exactly the same setup.

hmm I may get these if they dont fog up inside...years back I purchased two sets of Pilot h4 conversion kits. They suck ass. constantly fogging up and retaining water. I wonder if these are any better.

What's the advantage over regular Sylvania Silverstars with relays added?

Sine I have the above mentioned combo I would say the advantage is the look, and the potential disadvantage is poor quality lens that does not seal well on both the bulb and the actual lens to housing.

I've just opened one of the boxes.

                Oh wow.

Cast aluminum body, heavy glass lense. In fact, it doesn't even look like it has a lense in it. Pictures tomorrow, if I can remember to bring a camera.

I have used the 5x7 H4 units from truck lite, they aren't bad, they have a flat cut vs. Hella's angled one but so they don't light the side of the road so well but nothing is perfect.

The build quality of Truck Lite's stuff is pretty good though. I do wonder just how good these will work compared to the same light with an H4 bulb as far as focusing the light on the road where with the 9007 bulb though as they seem to have used a nearly identical pattern on the reflector as the larger H4 units.

As far as the sealing out moisture, there have been no problems with either set I have had or the ones a friend of mine has(H4 though, so naturally more prone to water intrusion around the bulb).

easy way to cure the moisture in the light is to drill an 1/8 inch hole in the very bottom of the lens and problem solved!!!!!!!! had to do it to a couple of our cars in the past and never had a problem after that!!

                        Intriquing.
Pirate, since it sounds like you have everything at work to try this, grab a regular 2A1, test clips, milk crate, and a battery. Dark room, light up the low beam of the 2a1, take picture. Light up the low beam of the truck like, take picture. I'd like to see an accurate comparison of beam pattern between the two.

One funny thing I have encountered..I, nor my father could ever get a headlight to actually light directly off of a battery. lol I have no idea what the hell we were doing wrong.
