If you are getting a regular windshield, and the glass place does not do it, theres probably a thread here already about bypassing the heated windshield wiring and circuitry, if not, one of us can post up the details.

thanks, but no i dont need one yet. and in searching for them i came across the disable procedure.

will an instaclear come out without breaking?

mine needs to be removed to repair the rust thats starting in the corner. if i can get an installed one out intact ill try and find a donor car with one still in it.

i figure if ill ever be able to find one itll be now, rather than later.

most windshields won't come out intact unless you're VERY careful and take a LONG time to do it. Most installers don't care about the old glass and never learn to take care of it on removal since they're gonna trash it anyhow. The glue that holds the glass in is very serious about holding on. It's definitely something that requires some special tools and a firm, but gentle touch. It's kind of an art (especially up the A pillars). I've seen it done once where the glas was not cracked, but even then, some of the edges got chipped a bit. It did work going back in, but if the glass is getting brittle... it probably won't come out nice unless you're really lucky or find someone that really knows their stuff to remove it.
