Now I know this same topic must have been posted like a million times but I could never find one to answer my questions. So I first wanted to know to remove my A/C can I just unbolt it and cut the tubes right off and disconnect that wire thats connected to it on the top. I want to just remove every thing that involves A/C thanks. Any help would be great.

if the system is already empty... essentially yes. if the system still has the R-12 in it (pre-94) and you just purge it like that and someone narks on you, you could be HEAVILY fined. If it's 134a... it's just toxic to all life if purged into the atmosphere but won't kill the ozone layer. Either way it's definitely safer to empty the system first. Then hack it out. The only issue will be the evaporator (part that's in the ducting). It's probably best to just cap it and leave that part there so you don't have to fill in the holes left by removing it to keep the heat/fumes from under the hood from getting in the cabin. The condenser (part in front of the radiator) can stay as a rock guard for the radiator or go to get more air to the radiator. Personal choice.

Don't cut anything. All of those lines will disconnect cleanly with a wrench or a quick disconnect tool. Much cleaner than hacking the parts off, and if you change your mind its easier to put it back together.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

I just deleted mine today... It was completely empty and was never converted to R134A, so I took it all off. I couldn't believe how much all the stuff weighed, including all the brackets for the smog pump and the smog stuff itself. Nothing wrong with good old fashioned A/C (AKA wing windows and windows).'97 Cadillac Catera - 3.0 DOHC V6, 75k

I see....said the blind man.
Well, if I were to fix my R-12 system, I would only use R-12 since the R-134a just doesn't cut it. Nothing like that arctic blast (with frost too)..
When I used to deliver auto-parts, there was this place called "Be-Kool" which installed and maintained refrigeration trucks. Once I saw a canister of R-400 and asked the owner if he could charge my car with it. He said sho'nuff jus bring it down.
Let's just the the overhaul cost of using commercial gas, metal braided hoses, and other parts (stock compressor would work, since R-400 is a blend of R-12/R-114 - same oil) ---- was prohibitive. If you want the frost, go commercial.sigpic

well I got the car a year ago and the only reason I want to take the A/C out is cause 1. the engine bay will look so much cleaner 2. the pully at the bottom seised so I don't even know if the A/C works or not or if its just sitting there empty. Any one have any ideas how to unsiese it and ill slap a belt on and see if not out she goes.
