Programming a key fob 1993 gm

I don't know if my '93 came with a remote/ key fob, but I have one form another car. Would I be able to program it to work with my car even if it didn't have one originally? How would I know if it did?

Check with the dealer, they would know how to tell if it has one, and order you a new one or program the other one.

Hold on. My dad did hundreds of these. I will tell him the situations and he well tell me if it is possible and how to do it later today.

He makes some extra money every now and then by hanging around the ford dealerships and scoping out livery cabs purchasing the keyfobs and then programs it for them for some cash.

What kind of key fob do you have? How many buttons is it? Some Grand Marquis got factory installed keyless entry. If you have an alarm under the hood, or a push button switch, or a flashing light, chances are it had one. If it didn't, it's not that hard to install a keyless entry system.

Spoke with my dad and he said there are too many ways to describe..and then he is not sure if the older cars are even compatible.

            Hi Magwheels

If you have the keyless entry keypad you should be able to program the correct keyfob to work.

To program a keyfob switch the ignition on then look behind the glove box and locate a two pin connector with white/yellow & grey/yellow wires, short out this connector momentarilly and the doors should lock/unlock, now press a button on yourt keyfob and the doors should lock/unlock, switch the ignition off and the keyfob should now be programmed.
