The Message center in my '80 lincoln is not lighting up, But the speedo and gas guage do. No noises or anything when I press the buttions for it, Anyone have any ideas or had this problem before?

    Thanks

im told that there is a brain for the info center? if so, that might be an issue. ill look in my mark VI manual for the info center diagnostics.

If the fuses are good, my first thought is that the message center brain needs an overhaul. The Mark VII has a functionally similar device, and at this age many are failing from bad capacitors. The Mark VI is even older, so failed components is somewhat more likely. I don't know of anyone currently rebuilding Mark VI and Towncar message centers, but I imagine its not that difficult to do if you have some electronics knowledge. I'd consider doing one, but I have no way to test it.

You might need to find Information brain center box and also you might replace LED lights for information center on guage.

Mine will stay on for 20 mins, then it freaks out and starts beeping and flashing the date, then it shuts off and when I start the car back up again it just has some random date and time on it. Works perfectly under 20 mins. I'm not even going to bother trying to find a new brain, I was thinking about taking it out and putting a GPS in where the screen is.
