LED Question.

Ok so I have ordered replacement code 194 LED refractor bulbs for my interior, for the speedo and the climate control. My dad was impressed and asked If I could do his lights in his truck after my car was done. Talking to his friend today (the kind of guy who goes looking for parades to shit on, and talks about how his tundra could pull my dads dodge 3500 sport dually backwards) and he said that I would need to add a new circuit with a relay etc, so as to not burn anything up. Now I know this guy and he can be an idiot sometimes, and although this makes no sense to me because
A. the LEDs are code 194 replacements, and
2. the LEDs should draw less current.
But just to be safe and not burn my car up I figured I would ask, at the risk of looking like a retard.

you should have no problems. Actually the leds should draw a little less power (not much, but still a little) then the normal incandescents. Look at 1990LTD's, or 85Hpp's 91 (there are more, those are just the ones that popped in my head), they both have leds in their cluster and had no probs whatsoever

The sylvania website will list all of the bulbs used in his truck. You shouldnt have any problems except wth color selection depending on what color the filters are in the cluster

The only time you have to worry is when you're putting LED's into brake lights or turn signals. Then you need a load leveler for each signal or else it'll fugger up your turn signals and brake lights.
I installed LED's in my brake lights and turn signals without putting in load levelers.
That equaled poo.

You can also use a flasher for a big truck. They are set up for12 - 16 lights and take very little power to flash. They are square and will fit in place of your old one. That's what I did and it works just like a standard bulb.

Resistors defeat the entire purpose of going to LED. Buy a proper flasher that will handle LED's.
