If it's sticking out a bit on the outside, maybe you could carefully pull it through from teh outside with pliers?

tried pliers but I didn't want to apply too much pulling force on the plunger so I don't break it. I got the plunger lined up and sitting in the hole so I doesn't fall out but applying enough force to push it through at that kind of angle doesn't work

Install it from the outside? Then connect wires from inside.

It's designed in such a way that it's gotta go in from the back unfortunately. I think all I can really do is leave it for now and get someone with smaller hands to fix it up for me

            oh, try lube?

sand the front edge down so you can get the tip in and the rest may be easier.

use a screwdriver or some other device to push it through maybe. I seem to recall being able to get mine to go through, but it was a pain in the ass.

We're still talking door jamb switch right?

You guys make it awfully difficult on yourself. or should I use :owned: ? You pull the switch out of the jamb, not try and shove it in from the back. No panels need to be removed. If your fingers are strong you don't even need pliers.

You can pry out the black ring and all, or you can hold the black ring in and use some pliers to pull the center ribbed cylinder out. Wire and all--just note the wire is just long enough to get it out far enough to disconnect it. If you have fumble fingers, put a piece of string through it.
Plug in your new switch, push it INTO the hole a few ticks to get it started. Then GENTLY close the door. That will set the depth of the switch. If it gets pushed in too far, you can get the flickering as originally posted, or the dome light will just stay on.

                Alex.

Fixed. Replaced the drivers door switch but the problem remained...kind of weird since the switch I pulled out doesn't work. I pulled the back passenger one out through the front with a pair of vice grips. It shall remain disconnected, with a plug over the hole. I don't ferry enough passengers in the back seats to be bothered by not having one of the doors trigger the dome lights.

Weird for one to go, and then the other a week behind it. Oh well, shit is done.

Pull the back door ones out a couple clicks and close the door. Any of the 4 doors, if it is due to a jamb switch will cause the problem. The only other thing left in the circuit is the headlight switch.

                    Alex.
