My check engine light came on yesterday. How do I diagnose it? It's a 2003 GM. Also, my radio has been intermitantly not working.....it gave me problems last year when I bought the car...worked almost all summer, now this past week is not working again. Does not come on at all...suggestions?

Radio may be as simple as a loose connection behind it, is it factory or aftermarket? usually its a ground issue if it keeps coming on or off, sometimes it can be power too. To read the check engine light you can pick up a code reader at an auto store with a book that tells you what the code means. thermostat
Thanks guys...I went to Autozone and they chekd the code. said it was a thermostat. The guy said it could also be a temp sensor, or an air pocket in the cooling system. So I changed the thermostat and the check engine light was still on. So I went and had the system flushed. I asked the manager if they noticed anything strange when they flushed it and then I told her about the check engine light. She checked the engine code again and I notced the light was off when she stared the car. She said the check engine light had to be reset. Never ehard of that, I would have thought it would have reset itself. but anyways, problem solved!
Now I gotta look into that radio......Comment
