Oh so the cheapo HO in 87 even got that plenum cover.

yeah, but only the LSC in 87 got that motor. It hasn't been absolutely proven, but as far as I'm aware, there were no 225 hp HO engines used in 87 Mark VII's.

        Too cool.

        OK.
First of all, props to BowDude for the efforts and ESPECIALY the pictures! Going back to the yard, in the snow, up hill, both ways, was very cool.

I had about six paragraphs of input, but my Nephew Gadget summed it up for me in about 25% of the space. Personally, I would prefer to restore something like this over say, a <100,000 mile 1988 or 1989. This car is just rare enough to matter. Unfortunately, the position of the passenger's side door in relationship to the fender and the C pillar, tells me that the car was either dropped or the driver was being chased by Boss Hog and jumped the bridge.

The H in the VIN means 1987. An 87 and a half (production date of 02/87 or later) is rare and might might might have the 255 hp engine, six months BEFORE the advertised release date of the 1988 LSC. Find me one of these and I'll mortgage the house.

I like the solenoid scenario mentioned above.

Somebody oughtta make that thing work ... even if it's just on a bench. It's almost MARKELLANEOUS.

Yep, you can call this a Class A ressurection

          ---------
ADMINS: you can move this to the propper section, I did not realize I put it in the "Box Tech" when it is not related to a Box.
          ---------

But I just uncovered the long lost "mystery horn" when looking for something else in my Unorganized-Organized-Pile-O-Junk.
And remembered, I never posted any other findings from this same vehicle.
I found the air tank on the car, it was tucked very securely in the drivers side fender well, and mounted to the frame, its not very big, maybe 1/2-1 gallon tank, good for a couple blasts. I took a pic of it next to a Nevr-Dull can so you can compare.

BUT, Im convinced this is factory, or either a very well put together dealer option. Mainly because of the switch I traced down. The switch connected to the air solenoind on top of the air tank, and then spliced into the factory wire loom, all taped up and everything, like it was meant to be.

And if I rememeber correctly, it was a blue wire, that went through the wire harness across the front of the car and then went into either the first or second relay on the passenger side firewall ((im pretty sure it was the first(closest to the front of car))

It was setup so that if you wanted to use the air horn, you flipped the switch, and then the steering wheel horn controlled the air horn, and then you just switch it back, and you have the factory horn.

I also beleive I figured out how the air lines were hooked up (kind of )
Ill try my best to write it out.
Im positive it ran off of the smog pump, (the blurry part is where it went from the S/P to those T's and to that hardline that went into the tranny tunnel) but it went from that stuff to that funky ragulator, that inturn filled the air tank, you then flip the switch, smash the horn, and wallah, you sound like a big rig.

Alright, if that didnt make sense, hopefully these pics can clear it up, maybe, lol.

This is how it was setup, for the most part, the "T" that went to the hardline which went to the tranny still has me stumped

Thats its for now, I might draw a Pic sooner or later, Itd be nice if I had an airial-see-through view of the front clip of a Mark VII, so I could draw it out and make more sense of it.

Oh well, this just thickens the mystery

so the smog pump was actually useful for something.

i just cant believe the smog pump could have made enough pressure to actually do something. Not sure if you've ever stuck your finger in the outlet pipe for one, but it doesn't exactly have much volume or pressure for output.

it may not but the vacuum side (for the cruise control) is actually pretty good had my atc jerry rigged to it for a couple months while i was looking for a new check valve. Dang motorcraft ones i was buying kept turning out bad finally got a GM one to work. Still bothers me that I have a GM part on my car though.

maybe it wasn't powerful enough, and that's why they made so few and we've never heard of them?
