Calling all Electrical Wizards and Geniuses.

I have installed on my car a keyless entry system that unlocks/locks my doors and pops my trunk. It also locks the doors when the key is put in the “on” position. I would love to know if any of you sneaky electrical guys know of a way to make my horn toot and my parking lights flash when I press the lock button. Below is the wiring diagram for my specific unit the second page shows the actual harness i have to work with. Please I would love to hear what you guys have to say. ANY method you may concoct will be listened to.

I could think of a way to do it using a relay or two, but every time you hit the lock button, manually or with the remote, the horn would go and lights would come on the entire time the button was pressed. Could probably be done only with the keyless thing with a few diodes to isolate the keyless unit from the regular lock switch.

A double pole relay and a diode should do it, without honking the horn every time you hit the lock button in the car. (nor would it make the doors lock every time you honked the horn) This would make it honk when you locked the doors, or when you unlocked them (your choice)

hahah funny you mention that because I actually hooked up an extra horn that way and every time I pressed the door lock switch (manually and remote) it would go off and I said to myself no no no can't have that.

I am fairly familiar with relays and such, juts not on how to go about and connect everything necessary for this set up. I have relays, I have diodes I just dont have the know how on connecting it. Can you elaborate on how to do this please?

Looks like your kit only locks the doors, am I correct?

I understand everything going on, just unclear of our Magic relay of goodness! From the looks of it I would say it is a standard 4 or 5 pin relay, but then up top you have double pole relay written. Is that just so everyone knows that it is very similar to "normal" relays lol?

Are you basically saying this? (Just the basic primary wires in question?)

The door lock signal will of course just be tapped off of the harness running out of the brain.

This is just a crude basic look of how I interpret your diagram.

Looks like you've got it figured out.

Unfortunately I just realized that I drew it wrong.
                        (long day)

You want the diode (only lets electricity flow in one direction) places so that the power from the brain will flow to the lock, and the relay, but not from the lock back to the relay. I'll redraw it tonight if I get time.
I put the double pole relay at the top just for reference.

Maybe it's my industrial background but I prefer the "ice cube" type relays, but they need to be mounted inside where they stay out of the weather.

                          Sorry about that.

I would suggest using several "rectifier" diodes in parallel. They are the big fat ones. This way the current can pass through the diodes to the lock, but not come from the lock back to the brain box or relay, when you use the lock button on the door panel.

awesome I will look into it!

I originally had the set up without a diode and i would use the door lock switch from thr door panel and that would trigger my horn. If passengers found that they could honk the horn from the door lock switch it would have been horrible, so I hope using the diode solves that problem!

hmm question. The brain also locks/unlocks my doors through ignition. That would mean whenever i turn the key in the on run position that my lights and horn would go off right? Its the purple wire on the ten wire harness.
