    heater blower prolem

My '90 GM will have the heater blower start and stop randomly when set in the Auto setting and for the floor. The Bi-Level works fine though when on auto. I found this info when searching here on the site:

"The thermal blower lockout is located in the heater core feed hose. Its function is to not allow power to the blower motor when the mode selector is placed on floor mode until the coolant reaches 120 degrees. The vacuum portion of this switch ensures that the outside air door is closed when the engine is not warm enough to produce effective heat so that cold air wont trickle through the floor vents. It is only used in the Floor position, and you can override it by using any other position."

Where is the "thermal blower lockout" located on the heater core feed hose so that I can change it out with a new or used one or can it be by-passed and I will just crank the blower up when the temp starts to rise like I do on my '89 MGM with the older style unit.

the thermal blower lockout is on the heater hose by the passenger side valve cover
i have been eliminating them, because they are a source for coolant and vacuum leaks, and the aftermarket ones (even the motorcraft replacements) have failed for me......plug the vacuum lines, and loop the electrical plug.........the blower motor will run all the time, but it sure beats a coolant leak or a vacuum leak

Thanks for the info. I better get on that as it started to snow here today. The blower has been doing this for several years now and it should be dealt with.
