Hey has anyone tired using a one wire alternator? I thought insted of doing the 3g upgrade I would just use a one wire and cut all the old wire out this way I'd have less mess...

They usually don't self-excite well at idle speeds. Its possible, but with how available the 3g is, and the fact it really uses only 2 wires, its not really that much extra work. The other thing is not just every parts store has a 1 wire on the shelf, so if it burns out, you're SOL till a new one arrives.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

You can do a 3G with no mess too... you can remove just as much wiring as with the 1-wire if you want, you just have to splice in a couple wires.
You can't tell mine isn't supposed to be there, no non-OE or spliced wires visible anywhere, while keeping down the cost and mentioned potential hassle.Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements
