    Heater Core Oddity

My 1986 Grand Marquis is leaking coolant. Not much (for now), but where it's leaking is odd.

I believe it's the heater core, but it's not leaking inside the car. It's leaking around the Receiver Dryer (A/C) lower pipe coming out of the firewall into the engine compartment.

My repair book leads me to believe (it's vague, thanks Chilton ) I should replace it through the engine side of the firewall and not the inside. All my past cars/trucks/station wagons, I replaced it from inside the car.
Do I replace the heater core through the engine side or dashboard side of the firewall?

You replace the heater core from inside the vehicle, behind the glove box. It will be an adventure to complete to say the least.

Long story short, I found a pin hole leak in the upper radiator hose, and it was spraying my A/C Dryer. Thanks for the info! I dodge a bullet this time. I was not ready to tear apart my dash.
