    longer wires = more money spent on wire. I think most manufacturers have barely adequate electrical systems.

    If you want to see gross overkill, look at military stuff. My boss just bought a wiring harness for his brother's '53 Deuce army truck. We were looking at the harness, and I couldn't come up with a bad thing to say about it. Heavy wires, stamped metal ID tags, weatherproof connectors, the whole bit. If cars were built to those standards, they'd cost twice as much.

          i thought the "fix" for this was adding relay(s).

            I don't know if anyone has added relays for just the parking lamps yet. I just repaired my connector for now.

              LEDs for brake/tail in the back as well as marker/turn in the front and LEDs for illumination in the gauge cluster should fix this problem as they draw a lot less current.

                60 years old. The rubber covering on the wiring has gotten hard and is cracking off. The connectors aren't the issue, its just the insulating material used on the wiring. Old cars and even appliances have that problem, the rubber turns to rock and its done for.
