This applies primarily to those who have manual heater controls.
If you goto the parts counter for a replacement heater blower resistor, the ford parts system will show ONE number for 1984 and up cars, E4VY-19a706-A. There is no choice of manual or atc. It shows this part as applying to all vehicles. This part is for ATC cars only.
Napa parts database is also FUBAR-so beware before showing up, and have numbers handy as they can cross reference Motorcraft numbers.
WRONG PARTS:
Ford: E4vy-19A706-A ($45)
Napa: ECHBR411 and RU407
The correct part number is E3AZ-19A706-A. This shows up in the Ford data base as 83 cars only (!) and whatever new cars it fits (which is a fair amount), was on the shelf.
CORRECT MANUAL HVAC BLOWER RESISTOR:
Ford: E3AZ-19A706-A ($35)
Motorcraft: YH1702
You will probably need a repair pigtail as well;
Motorcraft: WPT-114 (42 painfull dollars)
Napa: EC4 (26 more reasonable dollars)
Will add another thumbs up for p71interceptors page;
http://www.p71interceptor.com/blowerresistor/replace/ the number I found googling (his page came up eventually) basically underscored my hunch as to what the correct number was.
Prices above are list prices, and in Canuck bucks.
Alex.
And yes, I'm cross-posting this one.
