What is the best battery for the price? Im kind of on a budget, but in the future Im going with subs prolly along with an amp, And my current battery/alternator can barely power the one i got. I'm going to probably get the 3g alternator, but i still need a better battery. Ive looked at optimas, but they are fairly expensive. Any help would be appreciated.

If you have a big amp pushing big subs the battery won't make that much of a difference. I ran an Optimum in my little Honda Civic and could not tell a difference between that and the little stocker that came with it. Do you have caps along with the amp?

Caps are good for surges, not steady demand. They do have the side benifit of killing a lot of power system noise, but honestly they're of minimal value. I have a 1 farad from my VW Beetle days, trying to silence noise from the mechanical voltage regulator and squeeze just a little more with that 30 amp generator. In the Towncar with the 3g, its a fuel pump whine killer and nothing more.
I like Interstates, but I'm currently running 1 Vatozone, 1 Neverstart, and 1 "Best", which I've never heard of but it was recent and in the Mark VII when I got it.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

I run the Motomaster Eliminator spiral cell(Exide Orbital) It is 5 years old and still tests decent, only because it spent about 4 months stone dead or very low without me knowing it. It was perfect till then. The Vic has a Diehard in it currently that is 6 months old and dies if the car ain't used for more then 3 days.1990 LTD Crown Vic w/ dead 5.0

I have an Interstate that has been performing admirably for the two years I've had it. Cost me about $75 from a dealer. (Okay deal, since otherwise I would have had to spend near that just getting the car towed.)2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!

Costco's Kirkland Signature brand batteries are made by Insterstate. Also, the recommended battery for our cars, according to them, is 800 cold cranking amps, 1000 cranking amps at 32F. Combine that with a 3g alt, and I had enough battery power to jumpstart an 09 Jeep Liberty where the battery was so dead that I couldn't even get dash lights. Just put the jumper cables on and it fired right up, no charging time at all.Originally posted by gadget73There is nothing more permanent than a temporary fix.
