Two diff. things. The freeze plug type is just like the water heater in your house and heats only the block. The pump type goes in the heater hose and will pump water around the motor and rad. They both do the same thing, heat water.89 CV LX 225/60 x 16 tires, CC819 rear springs, Front & rear sway bar, trans & PS cooler from 90 cop car. KYB shocks, F-150 on rear. Dual Exhaust w/ H pipe. Dark brown door panels, carpet, steering wheel, trim parts from a 87 Mer GM. Power front buckets from 96 Jeep Cherokee. LED'S front & rear. 3G Alt from a 97 Taurus wagon 3.0. Electric fan. Rear axle from a 97 PI 3.27 with disk brakes. Headlight relays.

'88 doesn't have one ... yet. Just picked this up today from NAPA ... $32. Going to hack into the lower radiator hose this weekend ... weather permitting. CLICK THE FREAKIN' LINK
I remember saying that the '88 would be a summer car before we dropped the new motor in ... kicking myself now. Truck and CV both have factory block heaters. They work just fine in ND winters.

That heater that hooks up to the heater hose works great. It does infact hook to the lower rad. hose too. It has to be gravety fed and than it heats the coolant and pushes it through the heater hose, warming the entire engine. I just put one on my tractor(was on my pickup), and there is a adaptor u buy, that goes in the lower hose. U drill and or cut a hole in the lower hose and bolt this thing in there. It uses two curved plates to "sandwich" the hose. The plate that goes inside the hose is threaded, the plate on the outside is not, there is a nut on the outside to snug it down. I'll get a pic of it installed when I get home. I personaly think that is the best heater to get.sigpic
