n00b 3g alt installation

    That's what I wasn't entirely sure of, but I heard if the fuse goes the electric goes back towards the alt and can cause damage. Ever heard of such a thing?

      It would be more logical that there would simply be no current flow, as with no EMF the little electrons would have no reason to run one way on the cable, and then turn around and head back the other way for the fun of it. I would *expect* that the regulator would then regulate output down to essentially nothing, and everything would be under control until you fix the problem that caused the blown fuse.

      On the other hand, the only time I've had an alternator blow a fusible link, it turned out to be suffering from a major rectifier failure that essentially grounded out the charging stud internally. That was weird.
