Well I've tried a few "techniques" to try to fill the tank to full without the stupid gas pump thing stopping but cant figure it out. I don't really care about having a full tank but I cant tell my MPG unless it fills up to the same point each time. Is there another way to do this? How bad would it be to just keep filling till I can see the gasoline from outside?

gotta pull the nozzle out a bit and dont hold the nozzle wide open......that is if you do not have those stupid vapor recovery hoses on the gas pump nozzles which you probably do

Yeah I tried pulling out the nozzle a little bit and slowly pumping it in but the thing still stopped so I'm thinking maybe the two I tried w/this technique had the vapor recovery hoses. I'm going to start checking out the pump nozzles for this. What about just putting in gasoline till I can see it from the outside? While in Japan a coworker did this all the time and had no problems but I don't know if its dangerous on our boxes.88 MGM 5.0 stock

Very dangerous if it overflows and you then drop a lit cigarette on it and set your car on fire. If you're like me, you don't smoke, so you only have to worry about the slight waste, running fuel over your paint, and possibly the odd static discharge from getting in and out of the car that could supposedly ignite fuel vapors.2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!

OH SHIT! I just remembered that I didnt do a proper cleaning! The crap wouldnt come off and I planned to clean it later that day but totally forgot! I know gas is corrosive. Whats the best way to get it off? It has turned into kind of a sticky glue substance.88 MGM 5.0 stock

soap and water is probably sufficient. If its real stubborn, maybe some spray nine?

Its turned sticky because of the volcanic dirt that stuck on it when I went to Mauna Kea. I'll try some hand soap but if that doesnt work would dish soap be better?88 MGM 5.0 stock

don't use dish soap, it strips off any wax you've put on the car and can even soften the paint.
+1 for using Spray Nine.
