    Cruise Control not working!

I just bought a 1997 Grand Marquis with 77,000 miles. I discovered this past weekend when I drove it home (750 miles) that the cruise did not work. The speed control light does not come on. I checked a few things. I am assuming it is not a fuse, because everything else works and from my reading of the fuse schematic, that fuse also protects other accesssories. The horn works. Any common problems on these cars, that I check easily? I am a moderate Do-it-yourself guy, but my skill is limited. Thanks in advance!

    Good troubleshooting info here:

That info is how I got the cruise in my brother's 01 CV working again.
