    Different turn signal problem/mystery

My inside right rear turn signal keeps shorting out. it will work for a little while then stop BUT it will work again after a little while!

I have replaced the bulb but after about a week it went out again then two days later it started working just fine and then of corse it went out again.

There is No moisture in the casing & all the wires LOOK just fine. So ummm any ideas?

Also it is just one bulb of the two.

Faulty socket? Have you seen if you can't rig a way to test the bulb and socket assembly under steady-state conditions (i.e. 12V jumper wire)?

is the fuse blowing every time it quits working? is it shorting out or just not working?

It's just not working when I take it out & look at the bulb it looks just fine all the little twirly things are all still connected. So as far as I can tell it is not the bulb.

The connections all look good. I haven't had a chance to test them yet or clean them off.but like I said it all still looks good.

Use a test light to verify that you have +12 volts on the hot side of the socket. If no, then the problem is in the wiring between the turn signal switch and the socket.

If yes, use a jumper wire to connect the socket to a known good ground (I usually use the exhaust pipe; mine isn't too rusty). If it works when you do that, check the wiring on the ground side of the socket. If it doesn't work, then the socket is the problem.
