Those "green dot" AC Delco batteries are quite a gimmick. They were designed to tell you when the battery is discharged due to internal failure. The major problem is that the "green dot" is only present in one cell of the battery core, and the standard automotive battery contains 3-6 cells which can in fact fail independantly of each other. Yay for AC Smellco. I have found Remy batteries to be a Godsend. I have never had one of probably 12+ of their batteries I have bought/acquired fail in anything from my Harley, to my dad's boat, to my Crown Vic. I have run them dead to 0.0V on occasion and charged them fast for 20 mins right back to 13.2V. I have also foolishly ran them bouncing around without proper hold-down brackets and in vehicles with weak charging output with no diminished capability or sulfation. If you need a REALLY dependable battery for something you care alot about, check out www.remybattery.com. Their Harley Davidson OEM replacement gel-cell batteries are downright awesome for what they cost too.

ive had nothing but bad experiences with auto-lite, exide, and ac-delco batteries...but then again i dont think you guys blast your system all god damned day like i do lol. this one time i went through 3 brand new exide batteries in a matter of 5-6 hours...i wanted to see if they would put up with my system being turned all the way up(engine off of course)...and they didnt. so recently i was having issues with my battery(was dying out again) and went ahead and bought myself a nice(expensive) yellow top optima. ever since ive had it, i leave my system turned on full blast while working on my brothers cv and when i go to start it up....fires right up....love that thing!

There's an old Energizer in my car right now, must have been put in by the old cat I bought the car from. Anyway, I can't for the life of me get in to check and change the water level.
Are car batteries just a case of needing to buy one big enough that it'll power all of your stuff?sigpic

some battery's are sealed and some are not.. I would say the mass majority of people that drive have no idea you can add water anywayGive a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will promptly forget that he once did not know, and proceed to call anyone who asks, a n00b and flame them on the boards for being stupid.
