if the fluid had any hint of red, the trans wasnt already acting funny, and it was only a light darkness in the pan, you should be fine.

every EFI ford car i've ever rode/driven in buzzed at idle..Give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will promptly forget that he once did not know, and proceed to call anyone who asks, a n00b and flame them on the boards for being stupid.

When I bought the car, the original bushing was already broken, and the TV cable assy was simply wired to the throttle linkage
I drove around like that a couple of thousands of miles. The AOD shifted a little late and I had no kickdown. A few weeks ago, I got me a new bushing: since then, the shifting has radically changed, kickdown is back. The only thing is the back shift from 4 fourth to third : either late, either a little harsh.
Luckily I didn't destroy my transmission driving around without bushing.
