Stuff Needed For Passenger Power Seat

Passenger Side Power Seat. I have been thinking about this for a long time. Now, I'm wondering what I would need and if I could reuse my existing seat.

of course you can - all you need is a power seat track (they are all the same in all box panthers untill 1990, left side is the same and the right side) the switch, its wiring, its bracket, and the power supply wiring.

Where would the power supply wiring attach to? I mean where would I run it?

I'd pick up the power supple from the other seat. It is a fairly thick wire; make sure you use the same.

I have 10 gauge wire. Would that be overkill?

the stock stuff is 10, not overkill at all. that panel is under the dash near the steering column. you can sort of see the column in the pic.

Is it only two wires? A power and a ground? What's that big harness for then?

I only have a power driver's seat, and I added 2004 seats to my car. I had to rummage through the wires, and find what was what (without blowing the airbags). On the driver's side, the only plug for my old seat had a ground, and the power wire.

Ok, so I'm gonna say that the big harness is for the switch, and that the power wire from the little harness also goes to the switch and they work together with whatever direction you want to go. Thanks.

On a Vic, the power wiring is 2 wires, hot and ground. It may be there under the carpet already. Lincolns are like this, all you have to do on a Towncar is install the track, dig the connector out from under the carpet, and install the switch on the door. Connector is in the door, just taped down to the harness.

Yep. I had mine out of the other car and into mine in about half an hour. It wasn't even as complicated as gadget describes it - my connecter for the seat motors was hanging out of the carpet underneath the seat. No digging needed.

In fact, if you look at the backside of the switch panel on the door, there are two square holes and one round one cut in underneath the trim. Looks like all the cars used the exact same panel but the ones with passenger power seats would have those three holes punched outfully . If you take a dremel and follow the shapes of those holes you can just screw the switch right in. You don't have the white text that labels what each switch does but whatever, everyone thinks it's a factory install anyway. I love it when a plan comes together.
