Interstate with 850 CCA in S.U. Paid too much for it.

I love my CarQuest 850 CCA batteries. CV and '91 have 'em. They never disappoint and are very affordable.

I have a Deka and I like it. I forget the size but it's definitely bigger than what came on the car.

It's simple really. The main battery is hooked up just as it always has been. The second battery occupies the space where the coolant overflow/ washer fluid reservoir used to be. (Just add a battery tray and voila) I use a continuous duty solenoid to connect the two in parallel whenever the ign switch is turned on. While the car is running they both charge, but when the key is off, the auxillary battery is isolated. Works great.

The self jump start is just connecting 12v from the aux battery to the continuous duty solenoid, for a few seconds before turning on the key.
            Works like a charm.

Sounds pretty nifty. Do you use small case batteries to save weight or just go straight for big deep-cycles?

Weight savings wasn't the issue with this car, albeit I haven't just bolted crap to it haphazardly, but I have saved a few pounds where I could without compromise. As for the batteries, neither are deep cycles, just big car batteries. It would be nice to run something that will handle a deep discharge more like a deep cycle, but for now it does extremely well. I have a HEAVY set of jumper cables, and this thing is better at jump starting other vehicles, than my old wrecker was.

Does anyone know of a good Side Terminal battery, which will work correctly in my EFI Box?

I get my Interstates for free, thats why I use them. But, they're also an excellent battery.

A company my Dad works for does alot of generator service. Every so often they change the battery with regular service. Quite often they'll remove a perfectly good battery, to recycle it. Sometimes they just need a charge. Other times they are no good, and we just file a warranty claim (via the company), and get a new one.
