Welding on a car/truck with EFI?

My father just bought a 2002 Ford F-250 Superduty for his main welding rig. He needs to weld in sumps for his acetylene tank and I would like to know how or what procedures to take when welding on a vehicle with a computer. All of his other trucks had carbs, so there was very little precautions to take other than disconnecting the battery.

I would assume the precautions would be the same, since if you disconnect the battery then current can't run through anything, but don't quote me on that as I am in fact a moron and wouldn't want to be responsible should your father inadvertently ruin his beautiful new Super Duty.

Just make sure the ground clamp is in a good clean spot, as close to the work as you can get it.

Disconnecting the battery was the route we were leaning towards; I just wanted to know if there was anything else that we had to do short of doing some sort of human sacrifice to some Pagan god. Oh, and thanks again for the speedy input guys. The Ford truck forum that I post on is sloooooow.

We shouldn't have to mention that you have to do that part; that's just standard procedure....

I know this will be moved to the OTB section but my Haynes maintenance manual doesn't tell me how to perform that ritual. I need to get my authentic service manual back from the MGM kid.
