The more and more I look at this diagram, the more I want to hit myself. I looked at the color coded wires on the autolamp headlight switch that match the day/night sensors. Does the autolamp switch have the resistor in it to alter the amount of time of the delay?

I found the wiring diagram in this thread, but need the auto-dim/auto-lamp diagrams for the Mark VI. Anyone gots?

better yet, anyone have a part number for the autolamp dual make relay? ALL the parts places show a single make dual throw relay as the autolamp relay even though the schematic shows a single throw dual make relay.

bah... didn't come back soon enough to edit again...
FYI, the relay needs to have isolated dual outputs for this to work properly.

I've edited the wiring diagram to properly match the actual relay setup for a 5-pin relay, as there is no case grounded relay ever used in this application. The light sensor pulls the relay to GND to activate it. This is according to the wiring on my Mark VI. I'm still trying to locate the bastard relay on my 88 so I can swap the thing out and see if this is accurate for the cv/gm boxes as well.
Edit: Diagram deleted because wrong and all parts houses do not have the proper relay and Ford Parts will not correct their listings.Last edited by sly; 03-17-2017, 10:22 PM.

nope... seems 83+ used a different setup since the relay in my 88 has an E3 part number. BAH!
So my diagram is probably correct for 80-82 Contis.

You have taken on quite a project. There are actually three relays in the system, a flash to pass relay, a delayed exit relay and the hi-lo relay, fitting autolamps is reasonably straight forward fitting autodim is a little more technical.
Hope you got the rear view mirror to mount the autodim sensor on as the sensor is mounted at a 5 degree angle to the right.
Here is the autodim wiring.
And here is the autolamps wiring.

Ignore my modified schematic up there... in fact, a mod can delete that crap. I found the f'n relay finally... in my 88 MGM.
you can see the wire handing out next to the clip mount. That's the "case ground" from the original relay schematic.
Part number for this "nobody has it" relay is E3AB-14A672-B1A//8AB
and the location listed in the repair manuals sais left side of dash near steering column. That's crap. This thing is located directly behind the climate controls on the 88 MGM. It's under the hood next to the ECC relay on the fender metal clip mount on the 82 Mark.Last edited by sly; 06-10-2013, 12:11 PM.
