No instrument panel lights or tail lights out back?

They worked fine last night. I pulled on my headlights to leave work tonight, and the dash did not light up. Kinda shrugged it off and drove home. Got home and went to check under my hood, so I left the lights on, and I looked around the back and there was no tail lights either. That kinda worried me. Are these two lighting systems tied together anywhere? I need somewhere to start looking. Its cold and dark out so I havnt checked any fuses, was thinking that maybe something in my headlight switch is toast. What do you guys think?

Check the wires leading to the headlight switch. They
are too thin and burn/melt at the plug. I fix them all the time. WagonMan

Problem was a blown 15amp fuse. Replaced fuse and all is well.
