Need some help with battery/alt connection

I've only got one wire coming off the positive terminal to the battery (its 'bout quarter inch 'round), and it runs to the starter solenoid. Shouldn't there be another wire that comes from the alternator that charges the battery?
Theres another 12 gauge wire running to a crimp connector, but its not connected to anything?
    Thanks

You should notice that where your positive cable connects to the starter solenoid, there is another cable attached that points back towards your battery. It should split into two 8 gauge or so wires with a fuse link on each one. It loops through your radiator support to the other side of the car where it comes out from behind the windshield wash container, goes between your air filter box and your power steering reservoir up into your alternator. Most of it will be covered in split loom so it might be tough to discern what's what.

There's a 12g cable coming off your positive battery terminal?

Yeah, but the 12g has a crimp connection on the end of it, but no wires attached to the crimp. So you're saying its normal to just have the large gauge wire going from the battery positive to the starter switch, but no other wires attached to the battery positive?

that is correct. most of the stuff ran for power on the car is connected at the solenoid. unless you have a amp line that powers an amp directly off the battery. i tied my positive amp line into where all the other lines get power from the battery...right off the solenoid. negative side has the large ground and a smaller ground line coming off of it.

Thanks a lot. :-p Thought maybe the charge wire for the battery had become disconnected or something.

The ground cable has some extra wires on it, one is a ground to the rad support, one is for the ECM. The positive cable goes to the starter relay only, no extra wires. Possible the cable on your car has been replaced with one from another car, and it had an extra lead for something.
