My 85 Town Car is having trouble starting unless you use starting fluid. Adjusted the hockey puck looking thing, I also took it off and sprayed it w/ some WD-40 and let it dry, just to make sure it didn't need to be cleaned. I hope I don't have to purchase another one just because of the fact they are $40-$50.

    I looked at these connections...

And they were extremely corroded. So I cut them off and right now they are soaking in some WD-40 for an hour or so. Hopefully this is why my car will not start for me. I will find out in an hour or two. Looks like the previous owner did a lot of N-rigging to the connections, exposed wire about 2" up the wire on a couple of the connections.

No, those will not cause the car to not start. No, WD-40 is not an electrical contact cleaner. Those control the high idle, evap purge and something else.
