    High idle on 84' CFI

my 1984 grand marquis has the central injection. I just bought the car the other day and I am not familiar with this setup, the car idles way to high, are there any common problems that i should be aware of with this system and what is the easiest way to troubleshoot this system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a high-idle cam on the right side of the cfi unit I believe. It takes a minute or so till it warms up, then you can blip the gas and the idle should kick down. If it doesn't, you might want to look at that linkage to see if its sticky or if the wire to the "hockey puck" is disconnected. Hopefully our resident CFI master will chime in soon, I think he's got pics of the thing.

yes - observe the thingy on the oppostice side of the CFI from the throttle lever - at the end of the throttle shaft is the high idle catch... open and close the throttle (engine off) and see if the catch is catching and holding the throttle open. Its pretty much the same as a carbeurator choke...
If it is, start it up and use your fingers to release it and see if the idle drops down to normal.
