    Whistle From Carb

I keep hearing a whistling sound coming from the carb, what does that mean? I checked to make sure it wasn't coming from somewhere else such as a vacuum line, so I ended up taking out all the crap I didn't need, now I am down to about 5 vac lines or so. Is it the spacer between the carb and intake doing this or the gasket? Thinking if I take carb off, should I spend $$ to get it rebuilt or cleaned since it's off?

Silly question, but did you check and make sure teh nuts on the intake manifold were tight? When I got my engine back together this summer I somehow forgot to tighten those down and as soon as I started it it started whistling. Always a good rule to check the dumb little things first.

I have an unsilenced air cleaner that whistles at WOT.

Maybe it's from the air going into the motor? Check for leaks with carb cleaner. Spray is around the base of the carb and intake and if the idle changes, it's leaking

My whistling noises usually come when I disconnect the vacuum advance and forget to reattach it.

I don't have any leaks. My dad suggested the carb cleaner trick that Mr. LTD mentioned. I never had this screeching before going to the unsilenced air cleaner. I have looked over everything numerous times, and have found no leaks. I think its just the sound it makes.

I can here the "sucking" under light accel. over the sound of my flowmasters, with the A/C on and the windows up. It is quite audible.
