While researching it here for my '84 Linc, didnt really see what I needed for so I went searching and came across this great article for those of us wanting to do this swap on an externally regulated (85 and older cars) system.

with dual exhaust, yes. 86+ with SEFI is 160. The 85 engine did actually have a smidge more grunt to it because the heads sucked a bit less.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

thats what the ford bible says at least, its good for 10 hp and 5 ft/lb torque. considering how craptastic the stock single exhaust is, i can believe it, better mufflers should be good for a few more since the stockers are pretty crappy for performance.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Wow, I guess that explains the added performance I noticed after I put on my duals.
I always thought it was in my head, or it seemed faster because it was louder.
