    Stuck Solenoid

    Has anybody ever experienced their solenoid stick closed (on)?
    I was about to go back to work after my lunch and when I started the car, the starter kept going. I was like "what the fuck!" so I turned off the key and It was still going! I pulled the key out and it kept going. So I was like Jesus Christ! Luckily I had tools in the trunk so I'm rushing to get my 13mm socket and ratchet to disconnect the negative. It stopped before I got there.
    So I let it sit for a bit, then, now that i had my ratchet and socket ready I started it again...
    Didn't happen. It hasn't happened since then but I am still going to replace the solenoid seeing how it only cost $15 and I don't want it to happen again (especially if my gf is driving it.)

      yea i've seen it happen.......replace the soleniod mang

        An 11 minute bump!!!!!!! I think thats a record.

        It could also maybe be your ignition switch going bad... if it happens again, try unplugging the little red wire at the top of the solenoid. If that stops it, it may be the switch

          Yes. The solenoids go bad. Friend's mustang used to do that. He'd get out and smack the top of the fender to make it let go.

            I've seen it happen several times. Usually it is the solenoid, but I have run across a bad ignition switch or two as well. As they said, if i does it again, pop the hood and yank the little red wire.

            In the mean time, a battery disconnect wouldnt be a bad idea just in case.

                Ive had it happens to me, Killed my starter.. A preacher. Layed hands on it.. And tried to kill it in the process But yea, keep the juice off of it, and go buy a new one.. i didnt have the chance to do that. on the account the bat termanels done went and melted onto the lil things that stick out of the bat. eh.. I confuse myself sometimes.
