    Wagon tailgate door window position...

Hey yall, been a little while! The Wagon is doin good... However the tailgate rear window motor has finally given out.

FYI: the 3 access holes have already been drilled out on the tailgate to reach the 3 mounting bolts.
I've replaced a side window motor before on a 89 grand marquis... but I've never monkeyed with a huge back window like this before.

The tailgate swings open like a door, or folds down like a pick up truck.
So, my question is: In what position do yall remove the window motor?

I mean do yall just have the door swung open with the window down? Or do yall have the tailgate opened flat like a truck?

I was thinking about doing it with the door swung open... but wont the window want to slide down? With no window frame it seems like it will get a little precarious.

    Any tips are appreciated.

Door swung open is my method.
I question if you could get to the motor effectively with the glass down and tailgate down.

Thanks Tiggie, that's what i was thinking too... did your rear window want to come sliding down when you replaced your motor? I just want to be prepared… not sure how heavy this glass is and I don't want to shatter it.

Have done this twice and neither time did the glass want to slide.

Good to know Tiggie. I'll get it done... hoping its just the 3 balls in the gear that tend to disintegrate. I got a feeling the motor it's self is still good.

          Have a good friday!

I also seem to remember doing this once on Donald's car, and no you can't do it with the glass down. It will block access to the motor. Gate swung open, glass up. It usually won't try to move, there is enough friction in that mechanism. I seem to remember a guide bar in the middle like the doors though, if it wants to move you can always wrap some tape around that to fetch it up.
