Has anybody done a sequential rear turn signal mod like some of the mustangs had? If so, how hard was it to do?

Sequential turn signal mod?

I've done it on 3 cars. 83 Grand Marquis, 91 Grand Marquis, and 85 Ford wagon. The wagon is where it gets interesting because I'm using the clear reverse light as a red brake light to achieve 3 sections of lamp.
I don't know how else to phrase this so please don't take offence: if you are competent with the most basic of vehicle wiring projects and the most basic of alterations, it's really no big deal.
What you will need is:- a sequencing module kit. There have been a number on the market over the years; the one that seems to have been around the longest, and the one I've used in all my recent projects has been the WebElectric product.
- two additional brake light sockets (e.g. 2-circuit bulbs). Use a utility knife or other tool to cut the hole in the tail light such that the larger socket fits in the hole. The stock socket for the innermost bulb is not usable for this project.
- Tools and supplies for wiring alterations (e.g. crimp terminals or solder and heatshrink; some lengths of wire as a proper install will involve pulling two wires up to the dashboard)
Don't do LED in your third brake light unless you want to wire in a resistor somewhere in the brake light circuit. Cruise stops working when 100% of brake light bulbs are LED.

Canbus compatible LED work in the third brake light and cruise still works right in my 93. Blinker needed the resistors though since I'm using the 2 pin electronic flasher. If you use the two pin with ground wire electronic flasher, it works without resistors.
Nice thing about early aero vics is that the inner brake light uses a two pin 3157 socket so there's no need to trim out the socket. Just need to wire in the 3-wire socket.
Good luck with your mod. Remember, it's easier to remove material than to add it back. Take your time trimming out the socket hole.
