    It does smell like gas.

Surely appears to be fuel dilution into the oil. This often happens in the region between the piston rings and the cylinder bore. Other factors include leaking of the fuel injectors, incomplete combustion of the fuel, low engine temperatures, long periods of idle time and frequent short-distance driving.

Unplug the MAP vacuum line and see if it runs. I once had one fail and it ran normal with no vac but pig rich and would barely go with vacuum, exactly the opposite of how they act with a good MAP.

Hopefully it’s just clogged injectors, and I’ll unplug the MAP sensor tomorrow and if that doesn’t work I’ll check injectors.

has this ever run since you owned the car? If it ran normally at some point, I very much doubt its clogged injectors. They don't suddenly go bad. It happens after years of use, or years of sitting.

It sat for about 5 years before it was in my possession. And I worked on it for a year before I had it run, changed out everything fuel related except for the injectors and rail. I always had rough idle for about 2 mins after first crank of the day and it’d cut off on hills sometimes, or if I went into reverse sometimes.

Could certainly try a GOOD fuel system cleaner. Not sure what you can get where you are so I'm hesitant to make any suggestions. By the way, when was the last fuel filter change? Just curious....

About 7 months ago. Change fuel filter, FPR, Fuel pump, Fuel tank. And I’m in SC. I used seafoam for the first month. Still might’ve been rust in they system from the fuel tank, which was rusted out.

I've used ATS 505 CRF. It is not cheap but extremely effective. If cost is an issue, you can try Chevron or another high end cleaner and fuel system treatment. If there is rust still in the system you need to eliminate it completely.

I’ll try it, but first, what should be my next course of action? I’m gonna unplug the MAP sensor and see what that does for me.

You can pull it and see how it runs differently but it will surely run poorly by doing so.

I know it will, I’ve dealt with the hose coming out before. Hopefully it is the issue.

Unplugged it, still no run. And to clarify, I can’t get it to run consistently, it runs when it wants to.

Meant to ask, what do you believe my next course of action should be? Try to find the possible vacuum leak? Check injectors? I’m out of town right now but I wanna get to it soon as I get back. Cause what’s going on with the injectors would be an effect of another issue I believe. But either way, when I can get it to start consistently is when I’ll change the oil out and add the stuff you recommended.

If you wish to check for vacuum leaks, the best way is with a smoke detector or spray carb cleaner on all the vacuum lines (be VERY careful around a hot engine) and listen for idle changes.
