And so the tale comes to an end...................1886 MGM alternator

So as all of you have been reading of my situation with a battery drain situation, traced to a bad alternator.
So..........the new REMY 92211 alternator was installed today in my ride. Despite all the BS blather on the REMY and RockAuto site that the unit was proudly American.............WRONG!!!!!! the f-er is made in China. So I hope this ends the BS I have had to undergo.

Most of these parts are now made in China. Shouldn't be a big shock to anyone.

No shock but sly and cunning ad copy should not "suggest" that the units are made proudly in America.

I am glad the mystery of the drain is resolved. You have had the problem a long time. I have had that happen to me. Advertised as built in USA.. Received China crap. Worst case is my NAPA floor jack about 15 years ago. In the Napa store, display jack said USA made. I ordered it and when it arrived it was Made in China. As it was a special order, the store would not take it back. I will not buy anything from that store again.

Unless the parts are NOS (and I mean old), the safe assumption is that the parts are either made in Mexico or China until someone proves differently. Obviously, there are some exceptions but the prudent person should bank on the previous statement!

I was smart to have rebuilt my Walker 1.5 ton floor jack about 30 years ago. Try and find an American made jack today.

It is my contention that all these units are made and marketed by one company.............BBB Industries. The one thing I did not like is the fact the unit comes with a BBB Industries long thin alt connector, which can not be removed. My bud had to cut off the original connector crimp the old wires into the new connectors attachment points, then solder the skinned back part, and finally cover that with shrink tubing. My bud is a true dinosaur, doing things the correct way like mechanics did back in the day. He is near 80 yrs old and has health issues, so when he fades into the sunset an era will come to a sad end. Also, if my mon-n-pop electrical shop were still in business, (they closed after being in business for 60 years) my alternator would have been brought to them to re-build.

Hein-Werner jacks I have no idea if this is a good price or sometimes maybe a sale can be had at tooltopia. Maybe zoro when they have 20-30% off. This one says assembled in USA sad to say. Some may be all USA,

Well, reviews are all relative but it seems many people have had issues with it. For $400 or so, we should be able to have sex with it!

Pretty poor it seems. Dang. Another one bites the dust...

On the bright side Amazon reviews mention Weaver and US jack as being made in USA

Well the US jack floor stands are 100% made in USA. Don't know about anything else.

This a 2G you put in? There is a regulator that does away with the spade connector and sends a pair of wires out the case. Its marketed as a safer, easy upgrade to the fire prone stock connector by forcing the end user to remove the troublesome connector.

LOL I have no idea what was put in except that its a 65 amp unit. REMY p/n 92211. The original Motorcraft alt has two connectors on it, a long thin one, and the second a smaller round thick one. Internal regulator.

I had bought some Mickey Thompson tires about a year back just because the website emphasized made in USA. But when they arrived, they said made in Mexico.
