Good thing about buying a unit over the parts counter is you can return it for another one if it is NFG. Alternators are one of those things I purchase with a lifetime warranty for that reason.

Ok boys!!!!!! today marked two weeks that I have disconnected the alt leads..............and............surprise........ ....the battery has not gone dead!! So I have asked my bud to order an alt and new connectors. I think I will have him order two, just in case one alt is dead out of the box. the story continues..............

Super glad to get rid of that car. Crap 3.8 V-6 with oil pressure problems. Car was broken into five times. Steering column broken as they were trying to steal it.
That was back in the early 2000s. in CA.Last edited by Mainemantom; 05-12-2023, 02:39 PM.

The frame should be fine as long as the torque boxes are holding up. Once those go, you're pretty much done without welding more metal in there. The A-pillar rot will eventually kill it as well, but if you're just now seeing stains, you've got at least 3-5 years before you get holes and major issues to deal with. Down here that would be 15-20 more years.

Sly, LOL I guess I have 3-5 years to win lotto, or marry a very rich woman;-) The passenger side is more advanced rust wise, but so far no issues with water pouring in from the rot. The windshield does leak in spots, so I did down and dirty and put weatherstrip sourced from the hardware across the top of the entire revel ss molding. I only need the car to transport me out to Long Island to visit the cemetery where my parents are buried...........that and reach the garage where my Studebaker is garaged. LOL I still get lots of thumbs up from folks yelling "old school ride" Sly, btw my cousin moved down to Austin from LI, he hates the F-ing heat

You know when the car was new the original owner had the car rust proofed, the fron fenders have no rust on the bottoms, but christ the top seam of both fenders have rust through holes now, "fender a/c' LOL Bottom of the trunk lid is also full of cancer, not withstanding the rust proof application
